It is with great pleasure that I introduce myself to the Denver birth community by way of the Denver Birth Bloggers. I am very much looking forward to being involved in this group in the coming year. It promises to be a great way to introduce one another to the fantastic resources that our community has to offer.
My name is Gina Gerboth, and I’m a homebirth midwife. I have a home office in southwest Denver, and I also travel all along the front range. I am originally from southern Colorado, and moved back to Denver about a year and a half ago, but continue to serve some of my families down south.
I am married to my high-school sweetheart (we will celebrate our 20th anniversary this year!) and the mother of three boys, who are now 15, 12, and 9. My middle son was my first homebirth, and my preparation for his birth turned out to be life-changing for me. From that time on, I voraciously read all the birth, breastfeeding, and parenting materials I could get my hands on. I soon became a La Leche League leader, and devoted many years to that organization, ultimately using that experience to become an IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant). It wasn’t until my youngest son was three and a half that I felt ready to start apprenticing with a midwife, though. I’d attended a few births when he was younger and knew I wasn’t ready for the unpredictable life of a midwife until he grew a bit more. Once I did start attending births regularly, I was lost to the world of midwifery.
I am an avid reader and knitter, and spend too much time on the computer. I practice yoga and do my best to eat and prepare wholesome foods for my family. I enjoy gardening, but often lose momentum before the end of the growing season is truly over. I am thankful for our four distinct seasons in Colorado so that I can enjoy the rhythm that comes with them. I have the best friends and colleagues anyone could ask for and am grateful for my relationships with them.
That’s me in a nutshell–I’m looking forward to getting to know you and yours in the year to come!
